MONEY

Your travels in Japan will definitely require money. Whether it be paying for train tickets, purchasing a meal or buying souvenirs, at some point, money will be involved.

The Japanese word for money is Okane.

To pronounce this correctly, let’s first break it down into syllables:

O-ka-ne.

As you can see, you have three separate sounds.

The first sound, “O” is a long o, and is pronounced like the “o” in the English word home.

The second sound, “ka”, is pronounced like the “ca” in the English word caution.

The third sound, “ne”, is pronounced similar to “na” in the English word nation.

Now put all of the sounds together. Keep repeating the word until  you get more comfortable with it. Before you know it, you’ll have it!

OKANE
