Japanese Word of the Week: Family

Being able to talk about your family makes great conversation.

The Japanese word for family is Kazoku.

To pronounce this correctly, let’s first break it down into syllables:

Ka-zo-ku.

As you can see, you have three separate sounds.

The first sound, “ka” is pronounced like the “co” in the English word copper.

The second sound, “zo”, is pronounced like the “zo” in the English word zoology.

The third sound, “ku”, sounds like the “coo” in the English word coop.

Now put the sounds together. Keep repeating the word until you get more comfortable with it. Before you know it, you’ll have it!
